I enjoy making this for a crowd of people over for a summer picnic or BBQ. Or make a big batch for the family to enjoy over the course of a few hot summer days. This ice tea looks so appealing in a glass pitcher or beverage drink dispenser. The lemons add a pretty pop of color to the table.

 

Lemon Mint Ice Tea

Lemon Mint Ice Tea Recipe

This Lemon Mint Ice Tea Recipe is a perfect blend of flavors but not cloyingly sweet. To get that just right amount of smooth yet tangy lemon flavor plus refreshing mint, follow this simple recipe.

Ingredients
  • Mint sprigs
  • lemons
  • lemonade: store-bought, homemade, or from concentrate
  • Ice tea mix or ice tea bags. If using a mix, I prefer an unsweetened mix
  • Ice
Directions
  • Step 1 Rinse the mint in cool water. Set aside on a paper towel the very best-looking sprigs for garnish.
  • Step 2 Muddle a sprig of mint at the bottom of a bowl or pitcher
  • Step 3 Add 4 cups lemonade to the bowl.
  • Step 4 Chill for 3 hours to allow the mint to infuse. This allows the mint to steep in chilled lemonade in advance for a perfect infusion
  • Step 5 Prepare the ice tea – either fresh or ice tea mix.
  • Step 6 Squeeze in lemon to taste and add the spent lemon halves to the tea to infuse.
  • Step 7 Remove any unattractive mint leaves from the lemonade mix
  • Step 8 About 30 minutes before serving, combine the lemonade and mint with the ice tea and lemons. Stir.
  • Step 9 Layer drinks – ice cubes, mint, lemon. Place my prettiest mint or lemon slices towards the front and top of the dispenser for the most appealing display.
  • Step 10 Add ice about 20 minutes before serving.
  • Step 11 I like to use a clear drink dispenser such as a beverage dispenser or glass pitcher that shows the lemons and mint in the drink. Position lemon slices along the side of the front of the dispenser.
  • Step 12 Add ice. Ice orbs make for an especially attractive presentation and are easy to make.
  • Step 13 Just before serving, add the best mint sprigs to the top of the tea container for the prettiest presentation

Lemonade Ice tea tips

 

 

You can use a pre-made lemonade from concentrate if necessary. I like Newman’s Own.

For an especially hot or long day, prepare some ice the day before made of the lemon or tea preparation. Add these ice tea cubes to the mix so the tea flavor is not excessively watered down.

Meyer lemons add a nice tart kick
